In 1990 Michael Kerner realized something about the way brokers were selling benefit plans to businesses. He observed that there was an enormous gap between selling a plan and providing any kind of administrative support.  Standard practice was, once a plan was sold and operational, companies and their employees were left to fend for themselves when any kind of problem arose.  In fact, a company was not likely to see their agent again until renewal and the inevitable rate increase.  Michael had a clear vision about how to do things differently.  That difference - personalized day-to-day advocacy is the foundation upon which Business Benefits Corporation was built.

Michael’s inspiration and leadership have created what is today an employee benefits company committed to changing the perception of the way insurance companies represent their clients.  The clear emphasis here is on client advocacy - an advocacy born of trust and communication, and forged from the desire to have a positive impact on the lives of others.  Business Benefits is a team of insurance professionals that represents each component of the benefits spectrum - planning, analysis, implementation and administration.  They listen to your needs, analyze your opportunities, present your options and, ultimately adopt your voice in satisfying your employees' benefit and coverage concerns.

Business Benefits has a great plan: liberate their clients from those employee benefit responsibilities which can be better served by a third-party facilitator, and offer employees the most sensitive representation they could ask for.  With over six hundred businesses and their more than 12.000 employees, it is a plan deep into action.

As Michael himself will tell you, "It is no less true today than it was when the company was born; it's not about which plan a client picks.  It’s about all the communication and service between 'sold' and renewal."  Upon that premise, he builds Business Benefits Corporation.
